What do you like about HMSS?

HMSS is a one of a kind program that provides mentorship and guidance as we all strive to reach our goal of becoming doctors and benefitting the community. HMSS promotes friendship and support between the members which is very clear in every interaction. Everyone in the program genuinely wants to see each other succeed which is very encouraging. The mentorship aspect of the program is also extremely beneficial because no matter what question I have, I know there is someone who has been through the same thing and can help me. HMSS has opened numerous doors for me and surrounded me with like-minded people who have helped me in more ways than I could have hoped for.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

Going into medicine has been an aspiration of mine for as long as I can remember. The idea of providing something as important and necessary as health allows me to play a role in bettering the community around me. Through my shadowing experiences, I have watched physicians make a significant positive impact on the lives of their patients, develop intimate relationships with the people around them, and go above and beyond to be a productive and valuable member of society. They have inspired me to go into medicine and become a doctor who can give back to the community and help those in need.
