What do you like about HMSS?

HMSS provides an incredible way for undergraduates to successfully begin a career in medicine. Its best features are guidelines that keep members on track with classes, a plethora of community service and shadowing opportunities, and the opportunity for personal mentoring both college of medicine staff and current medical students.

Why do you want to go into medicine?

When I was little I always wanted to help people. I knew becoming a doctor was not the only way I would be able to help people; firefighters, teachers, and even cashiers help people every day. Growing up, my experiences with physicians had a profound effect on my life and on my family’s lives. Because of those interactions and how they affected me, I hope to similarly change people’s lives for the better.

What is medical school like?

It is like undergraduate college, but you have to be able to digest and comprehend lots of material in a short amount of time. You still have free time, but instead of enjoying your hobbies for 6 hours a day, you have to limit yourself to 2 hours a day.

What do you like about FSU College of Medicine?

The professors are world class. The students around me are not only the brightest group of colleagues I have been a part of, we are all in this together for the same reason: become a new breed of doctor that truly puts patients first. The building is state of the art and facilitates group studying that builds our bond as a class even stronger.
