Facebook Live Workshop on Humor and Joy in Caring for Loved Ones with Dementia: Keys to Family Connection and Well-Being
Please join us for a free Facebook Live Workshop on Humor and Joy in Caring for Loved Ones with Dementia: Keys to Family Connection and Well-Being, 7:00 PM-8:15 PM (Eastern Time) Thursday, February 8, 2024. The workshop offers practical information about how, when and under what conditions to use humor in reducing caregiving stress. Examples of caregiving situations that may benefit from humor are problems in dressing, eating, hygiene, and loss of bladder or bowel control. Our featured presenters, Dr. Linda Miles and Pastor Brett Cooper and Mrs. Brenda Frinks and Ms. Syrita Frinks, are family members who jointly cared for loved ones with dementia. All four presenters are dementia care trainers and advocates. They will discuss how they used humor to improve caregiving challenges and their relationships with loved ones with dementia. They also will provide easy-to-use tips on observation and listening, creating opportunities for humor and laughter, and thinking outside the box. In addition, Tomeka Norton-Brown will provide information about caregiver skills training and support and dementia care resources will be discussed. Elder care professionals, future caregivers, and other interested community members are also strongly encouraged to join the workshop.
You may also contact Tomeka Norton-Brown, ACTS2 Project Coordinator, to register via email at tnnorton@fsu.edu. After you have registered, we will send you written workshop materials.
