This study is investigating whether disinhibition, agitation, aberrant motor behaviors, and other neuropsychiatric symptoms are associated with uric acid levels in people with varying levels of cognitive impairments. The long-term goal of this research is to identify new treatments for these disabling behavioral symptoms so as to improve the quality of life and reduce cost of care for individuals with dementia and their caregivers.
