White Coats for Black Lives
The medical students came together as one for White Coats for Black Lives. They gathered today to advocate for social justice for the community, patients and the Tallahassee Regional Campus team. The event, all student organized, included words of welcome from the campus dean, Dr. Sandeep Rahangdale, and M3 students Shanquell Dixon and Alexandria Wilkins. The group made posters, then traveled to Capital Regional Medical Center and stood at the intersection of Capital Medical Blvd. and Capital Circle NE. Their passion shone brightly as they assembled in solidarity, waving their signs and demonstrating their collaborative spirit. Many passersby honked in support, stopped driving to thank the medical students, and even took photos themselves.
The students ended the event with a moment of silence, and then individual thoughts to the group. The students were thankful to use their voices and participate in something that will be forever meaningful to them. This conversation will be continued at the Florida State University College of Medicine.
