8:00am - 4:00pm

  • This program will sensitize participants to the opportunities in clinical practice for collaborating with attorneys to help plan for and resolve actual and potential problems confronted by their patients, especially older patients.
  • Legal, ethical, economic, and social factors implicated by interprofessional collaboration will be discussed.
  • The discussion will help participants to identify and overcome impediments to effective interprofessional collaboration.

Audience

This conference is designed for physicians, attorneys, nurses, social workers, psychologists, patient advocates, and others with an interest in continuing education in the delivery of medical and legal services to patients/clients, health policy, legal medicine, health care ethics, and public health in Florida. Members of the public are welcome to register and attend also.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify key issues in the care of patients, particularly older patients, for which the physician’s collaboration with an attorney serving the individual patient might be advantageous.
  • Appreciate opportunities for, and impediments to, interprofessional collaboration in addressing those issues.
  • Know about various resources to facilitate interprofessional collaboration on behalf of the patient, and how to utilize those resources.

Accreditation

Applications for credit hours have been submitted for physicians, lawyers, nurses, and social workers.
