Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification and Continuing Education Webinar Series

The Certification Webinar Series provides webinars for Continuing Education (CE) for Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists seeking recertification and those needing CE to become certified. All tobacco treatment specialists and other healthcare professionals are welcome to attend the webinars.

Webinars are also approved for CE for Recovery Peer Specialists.

Webinar Details: 

The Webinar Series begins in August 2017. Registration is required for each webinar presentation. After registration, each participant is provided an access code to use on the day of the webinar. This webinar series is funded by Tobacco Free Florida and therefore registration is free. There is no additional charge for CE for Floridians.

October 19, 2017- Regina Washington, DrPH, Addressing LGBT Tobacco Disparities

November 16, 2017- J. Lee Westmaas, PhD, Helping Smokers Quit: Efficacy of Tailored Email Messages Providing Information, Motivation, and Support

February 15, 2018- Sonia Duffy, PhD, RN, FAAN, Providing Smoking Cessation Services to Cancer Patients

April 19, 2018- Dan Steeves, BEd, DAUS, MAEd, "Ending the Tobacco Relationship, Breaking Up is Hard To Do."

Dan will share stories from his career offering cessation support to the general public as well as diverse communities such as those living in poverty, those living with a chronic mental illness/co-addiction and those living within an institution. He will describe the importance of viewing tobacco as an addiction rather than a bad habit and the value of understanding the grief that comes with letting cigarettes go.

May 14, 2018- Regina Washington, DrPH, Making Tobacco Cessation Inclusive of LGBT Populations 

Dr. Washington will speak on strategies for asking sexual orientation and gender identity questions. Focus will be on the AHEC registration questions.
