Future Healthcare Professionals of the Treasure Coast Conference

On March 6, 162 Martin and St. Lucie County high school students attended the first Future Healthcare Professionals of the Treasure Coast Conference at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. The conference, organized by the Healthcare Roundtable of the Treasure Coast, offered the students workshops in soft skills, financial aid opportunities, career pathways, and task management/critical thinking.  The FSU College of Medicine Fort Pierce Regional Campus supported this event by participating in the planning and implementation, as well as sponsoring a booth.  Dr. Juliette Lomax-Homier, campus dean, and Beth Strack, campus administrator worked at the event alongside two M4 students, Alaine Sharpe and Estela Abich.  The high school students enjoyed interacting with our medical students and learning about the different pathways one can take to become a doctor or physician assistant.  The event received so much positive feedback, it will be conducted again next year.
