Job Description

Dr. Stavros coordinates the emergency medicine curriculum and training of third- and fourth-year medical students at the Pensacola Regional Medical School Campus. He also serves as the Education Director for Emergency Medicine for the College of Medicine.


Dr. Stavros is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine and is a fellow for the American College of Emergency Medicine and for the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He was awarded the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship and received his Medical Degree at Creighton University. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at St. Vincent’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Ohio. Following clinical training, Dr. Stavros was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, where he practiced as an emergency physician and served as EMS director and medical director. After his honorable discharge in 2000, he continued to work as an emergency physician in the Panhandle of Florida and Mississippi.

He is currently the medical director in the Emergency Department at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola. He serves as faculty for FSUCares, a mission-oriented organization that annually takes medical students to underserved populations to provide medical care. He received the Avaya Small Business Award for a project that utilized telemedicine to provide care to a rural village in the country of Panama.

He is the medical director of the EMT/Paramedic program at Pensacola State College. In addition, he is an instructor in ATLS, PALS, ACLS and ITLS.
