Student Organization of
the Year

The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) is a national
organization that is dedicated to promoting women's health,
improving the professional development and personal well-being of
its members, and increasing the influence of women in all aspects of
the medical profession.
This past year the Florida State University College of Medicine AMWA
chapter was named “Organization of the Year” at both the College of
Medicine level and at the University level (among over 450
organizations). They earned this distinction through extensive
community outreach and education. Examples include close ties with
the local domestic violence shelter, Refuge House, fundraising for
Komen’s Passionately Pink Campaign, participation at the National
AMWA conference in Anaheim, CA, as well as their event - Cervical
Cancer: A Musical & Narrative Performance starring Ms Christine Baze–
educating over 100 people about cervical cancer prevention.
Currently, FSUCOM student Danielle Barnes is serving as national
AMWA’s Region IV coordinator, while FSUCOM's AMWA chapter is
committed to continuing its strong service record and visible
presence both locally and nationally.
