Dr. Gregg Stanwood received his Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in neurochemistry and developmental neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with support from the National Institutes of Health and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Foundation. Gregg was recruited to Vanderbilt University in 2002 and became an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in 2007.
Gregg and his laboratory relocated to the Florida State University College of Medicine in 2015. Gregg is Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences, Associate Director of the Center for Brain Repair and a member of the FSU Program in Neuroscience. Gregg is an active member of several prominent scientific organizations, including the Society for Neuroscience, the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and the Developmental Neurotoxicology Society.
The Stanwood lab's research interests are in the formation and function of brain circuits that control cognition, emotion, and addiction. Gregg is also actively engaged in community efforts to increase awareness of neurodevelopmental brain disorders and improve health equity.
