The first recipients of the “Falls Prevention Certificate of Appreciation”
Every year, 1 in 3 Americans aged 65+ falls—often leading to injury, hospitalization, lost independence, and even death. Our Falls Free© Initiative is leading a national movement to reduce falls among older adults.

In order to receive this certificate, recipients must have demonstrated a significant impact in falls prevention in their state and were selected by their state Falls Prevention Coalition leadership.
Dr. Maitland was noted for his ongoing efforts to increase health care providers knowledge during Florida’s Statewide Falls Prevention Awareness Day.
