Dr. Sweeney Honored

Dr. Mike Sweeney was recently honored as the 2011 Graduate of Distinction for the FSU College of Arts and Sciences at the 19th Annual Homecoming Reception held November 18, 2011. Dr. Sweeney graduated from the FSU College of Arts in Sciences in 1975 with a BS in Biological Science and the Program in Medical Sciences (PIMS).

  • Evidence of significant professional accomplishments
  • Positive impact/influence on students, faculty and staff
  • Evidence of substantial philanthropic and volunteer activities
  • Leadership qualities
  • Active role in "ambassadorship"

Dr. Sweeney practiced in Ft. Myers as a vascular surgeon for nearly twenty years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida. He started a medical device group purchasing company while in Jacksonville. He later joined the FSU College of Medicine as an assistant professor. He recently joined Amerinet, Inc. as the Chief Medical Officer and serves as the first Chairman of the FSU College of Medicine's Alumni Board.
