Rachel Pelt was born and raised in Jackson County, Florida. She graduated from Sneads High School in 2010 and was co-valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she attended Chipola College in Marianna, Florida, to earn her Associate in Arts degree. While at Chipola, Rachel worked as a tutor in the college’s Academic Center for Excellence. She was also a member of Chipola Show Choir, Honors Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Science Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Pre-med Society. In 2013, Rachel transferred to Florida State University to complete her undergraduate degree in exercise science, with minors in chemistry and child development. Rachel has dreamed of becoming a physician since she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 8. She hopes to one day return to her rural community to practice medicine.
