Appointment: Associate University Librarian
Job Description
As technical services librarian Ms. Nagy’s primary responsibility is to create and maintain the systems which enable access to library resources. In the “old days” this meant creating and maintaining the card catalog and records showing the status of journal subscriptions, receipts and binding. Modern times have transformed these functions to apply to online catalog records and library Web pages. She is also happy to assist library users as they navigate the ever-changing system and resources.

Ms. Nagy has had a series of careers that have come around in full circle with her joining the library at the FSU College of Medicine. After completing her first master’s degree, she worked to implement the first collaborative serials automation system in the country at the University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School. After five years in this career, she moved on to the ‘mommy track’ for the next five-year period. This was followed by a five-year career in public librarianship in the Atlanta area cataloging in a system working out bugs from recent conversion to automation. A move to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., resulted in greater involvement with computers in the form of a second master’s degree and yet another career - software engineering. Thirteen years with contractors to the Air Force followed, consulting on software development quality assurance and process control and improvement. Then she decided it was time to return to the original love of her life: medical libraries - and yet another degree, this time at FSU.
