Biosketch
|
|
Dr. Johnson received her B.A. in psychology from Cornell University and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from SUNY at Stony Brook. She was a 2001-2002 Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow, working in the office of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Previously, she was Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center of Pediatric Psychology and Family Studies at the University of Florida. She is a diplomate in clinical health psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a fellow of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Johnson has published more than 100 journal articles, chapters and books in the areas of pediatric psychology and clinical health psychology. She is considered an expert in the areas of medical regimen adherence, behavioral aspects of childhood diabetes, the psychological impact of genetic screening on children and families, and pediatric obesity. She has more than 25 years of research funding from the National Institutes of Health, including a Research Career Development Award, and has received grants from the Fetzer Institute and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Johnson's health-policy interests lie in the importance of including patient and provider behavior as a focus of US health care. |
