Job Description
Dr. Blackburn is the Director of Rural Health within the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health. Rural health is one of the priorities of the Florida State College of Medicine’s mission.
Biosketch
Prior to joining the faculty at the Florida State University College of Medicine in August 2006, Dr. Blackburn was in private practice as a family medicine physician in Stamford, New York. From 1997 through June 2006, Dr. Blackburn held the position of Clinical Associate Professor at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she served as clinical faculty for third-year medical students in their primary-care clerkships in her rural location. She has also served as a member of the faculty at Sage College in Troy, New York, and as Medical Director of the Chemical Dependency Clinic of Otsego County in Oneonta, New York. A 1991 graduate of Case Western Reserve University College of Medicine, Dr. Blackburn is a dedicated advocate for and educator about issues surrounding rural health and medical care for underserved populations.
