Job Description
Dr. Patrick’s principal duties with the College of Medicine are to develop, coordinate and lead in teaching an integrated curriculum in pharmacology.
Biosketch
Dr. Patrick is a Faculty Scholar in Pharmacology and has 33 years of teaching experience in health professions schools at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia and at Florida State University. He has taught medical students for 30 years and has participated in teaching reviews for National Boards for medical students and in review courses for residents. For the past 30 years he has directed pharmacology courses for students of dentistry, pharmacy, and medicine, and has participated in major curricular revisions and accreditation self-studies in those schools.

Research Focus
Dr. Patrick’s research has dealt with substances of abuse, particularly sedative and opiate drugs, including dependence, tolerance, biodisposition, and neurochemistry.
