health professional students have volunteered in the past. Some are
clinical others are direct community service and some are a
combination of both. The list gets updated periodically but because
they are volunteer organizations, the contact person listed may not

Summer Programs
There are great opportunities for pre med students
during the summer months to be working outside while gaining
valuable health care experience. Many of these opportunities are
helping children within a summer camp experience. Depending on
available dates, it may be possible to combine a summer school
schedule with a volunteer experience.

This organization offers a variety of programs throughout the state
for youngsters with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
International Volunteer
Experience
This can be a great experience for student who the
time, money and sometimes foreign language fluency. The time
commitment may last from just a week to an entire summer. Often,
these opportunities require the student provide for their own
transportation and expenses.

A summer internship program where students spent 8 weeks in a rural
community in a health related project. Interns live with local
families.
Global Volunteer Network
Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of
educational, environmental, and community aid programs. Examples of
these activities include teaching English, environmental work, AIDS
education, and assisting in orphanages. There are currently programs
operating in China, Ecuador, Ghana, Nepal, Romania, Russia,
Thailand, and Uganda.
