“To follow, without halt, one aim: There’s the secret to success.”

~ Anna Pavlova

Welcome to MAPS!

We are a unique organization that brings together people from all races and cultures with one common goal: to one day become the best physicians we possibly can. With the growth rate of minority populations in American higher than ever, it is most advantageous for a future doctor to familiarize him or herself with the diversity of cultures present in our ever-changing country. We offer not only the benefit of bringing together these diverse students, but also the opportunity to work with the various cultures of the unique Tallahassee community. This community not only represents the multi-cultural aspect of MAPS, but also its mission to help serve underserved communities. Finally, all aspects of our mission and goals are almost identical to the mission of the Medical School that harbors our organization. Pre-Medical Students often look to join organizations so that they may fill a few lines on their med school application, but the knowledgeable student knows it takes more than signing up to a few clubs to get into medical school.

We offer various opportunities such as:

  1. Pre-Med advising to help plan your college years so that everything is completed in a timely manner
  2. MCAT/Med-application Prep
  3. Our sister program, SSTRIDE, which focuses on public speaking, professional development, and offers a clinical assisting course.
  4. Study groups for additional help with classes that provide a better understanding of the material.
  5. Volunteer opportunities to help give back to the community.
  6. Physician panels that allow students to ask doctors direct questions.
  7. Mentoring program to have a student’s perspective on teaching/classes

We hope that you will take advantage of these opportunities to better yourself and become a GREAT DOCTOR!!! See you at the meeting!

Sincerely,

Jose Barquin
