The Division of Health Affairs at the College of Medicine is engaged in teaching, research, and service in the areas of health policy, public health, and health services research covering a broad range of topics. The Division is led by Leslie Beitsch, M.D. who oversees the Division's six Centers. The work of each Center focuses on a specific area but takes a multidisciplinary approach to accomplish its goals. Experts from each of the Centers work together and with other interested university academic units, organizations, and associations on a number of projects affecting our community, Florida, and the nation.
The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program at FSU received national accreditation for its Tobbaco Treatment Specialist: 3 Day Foundation course.

Dennis Tsilimingras, director of the College of Medicine's Center on Patient Safety, has been awarded a two-year, $908,000 grant from the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
Dr. Dennis Tsilimingras works to establish a State Committee on Patient Safety Curriculum. Their inaugural meeting was held at the UCF College of Medicine in May.
Charles Saunders, Ph.D. was awarded a three year grant of $360,000 from the James & Esther King Biomedical Research Program.
