Cianna (Pender) Hatfield, M.D., and Jackson Hatfield, M.D., recently graduated from their Louisiana State University residency programs. Cianna served as the chief resident for general surgery this past academic year. Dr. Rene Loyola, Fort Pierce clerskship faculty for surgery, attended her graduation in New Orleans. Jackson was one of seven finalists for family physician of the year within the Ochsner Health System.
Cianna and Jackson accepted jobs in Thomasville, Georgia, and began work the last week of August. "Thomasville is a small town just north of Tallahassee and is closer to both of our families and favorite fishing spots," said Jackson, a family physician. It will give us the opportunity to practice in a rural community but still have excellent medical facilities. Cianna joined a hospital-employed group of six general surgeons. She will take trauma call and be able to practice the full scope of general surgery that she desires. I will be the fourth doctor in a hospital-employed group and will be able to do outpatient and inpatient medicine."
