First-year student Sara Ardila recently was elected director of Region 4 in the Student Division of the American Medical Women's Association. That region comprises Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Before she enrolled in medical school, Ardila attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelor of Science in applied physiology and kinesiology. She said she's excited to become a part of the AMWA student leadership team and contribute to AMWA’s mission of advancing women in medicine and improving women’s health.
Update: In April we learned that the College of Medicine has provided yet another AMWA leader. Samantha Rupert (M.D. '14) has become director of Region 4 in AMWA's Resident Division. Faculty member Suzanne Harrison, AMWA's president-elect, called it more evidence of "our amazing involvement at the national level in AMWA."
